Want to be a celeb on the net?

I was listening to a radio show this morning. They were talking about how it's built into the human genome to want to be accepted by people/"be a celebrity". So, I'm thinking one of the easier ways on the net to be accepted/celeb status is to post your pretty pictures everywhere. All you gotta do is be pretty, who cares about brains! Yes, sad but true. I'd think we'd have to credit Hotornot.com(I think it as the original site like that), for starting the trend of internet ratings. LJ comms and other blogs, of course, played the part in cam whores. Some of these really good-looking people hardly need to be told they look good from others. Some want popularity, some want self esteem, others are just pic whores.

...if you're gonna post your pictures everywhere on the net don't think they are safe.

I joined EMA after lurking in Nonuglies, T_E and others. The first ratings comm I found was an alternative ratings comm. The Alt. comm wasn't soo bad as what I later found. When I came upon Nonuglies, it was sickening how people were mean to the applicants. It was superficial.

"Ratings Communities are all about acceptance"

The reason I was interested in ratings comms was because I wanted to see people's real opinions on ideal beauty. Also, as well as something to do in my spare time. I got tired of media's/Hollywood's portrayal on what was attractive and what scientists determined that human brains though as beauty.

The projected idea of beauty by science was:
symmetrical features, on both male and female,
females- light healthy looking hair, big eyes, small curved to a point chin, curvy hips but thin waist, clear skin, basically looking healthy and young (hence the light hair, big eyes small chin) so they are able to carry children.
-males it was proportionate body, symmetrical face with strong jaw line, dark hair, in shape, basically strong and in shape so they can take care of a family.

The media's view:
females- blond, light skin, big boobs, skinny
males-dark hair, tall, muscular

What I found was:
many people seem to like darker hair on both men and women, they though of darker features as exotic and mysterious, liked people's weight of all sizes as long as the person appears healthy ETC.

The beauty ideal didn't go too much by what the media/Hollywood projected, it went more with science more however, clear skin-healthy, symmetrical, more.
As science once thought all cultures do not find one type of beauty the ideal beauty.

Ideal beauty guidelines of symmetry are based on Fibonacci's Phi. Phi is common in everything thing accruing naturally from the joints in your index finger to a flower. Beauty has been so much sought after in history, of course. Styles of artwork are based on Fibonacci's Phi such as the Golden Mean. See "Venus" as one example. Some of the art styles that used phi were Romanticism, Baroque and Renaissance. As an example, these guidelines assured that Michelangelo's "David", was in correct proportion.

In the end I've had the chance to meet, observe, understand different people's thought on ideals. Though the communities didn't teach me fully of what I wanted to know, besides of people being rude, I did learn that ratings communities are just another cliche/popularity contest and where people come to be accepted. I have much ti learn as we all do about things such as beauty, people ETC. Life is a classroom.

Did you know there's honest communities for people who need self esteem help? There are even communities to just post pics, without having to be the vainest person around.

Oh course I've done this all in my free time. I guess maybe It'd be goodto have more time on it? Nahh.

Really get some manners...
Some people do go to the comms to find out if they can get a self esteem boost or find out what's wrong with them in other people's eyes. These people are sometimes unsuspecting and get hurt really bad in the end.

How about trying...
"You should try a different camera angles."
or
"That style of clothes is not flattering to your body type."

Instead of...
"Get out you fucking ugly thing."
"Are you kidding! You're too ugly to be here!!1."

It sure in the hell is a lot better to use constructive criticism for you and for them.

I lurked ratings comms for a while. I was disgusted on how people reacted. I fell upon a community called sexyfucks, which made fun of ratings communities by the way of parody-posting bad pictures etc. So I found an LJ code and got this name...which is also a parody to rate comm members. Apathy(lack of emotion towards peoples' feelings) + Elite(better than you). The community had and still has few members. Then came EMA...which revolutionized(possibly) anti ratings communities. I joined EMA not to long after it was made--Aug. 15th I think.
EMA sees to have been the culprit in bringing down
